Maintain youthful, smooth, and supple skin into your golden years when you implement these three tips into your daily life!
While there's no magic bullet to looking young forever, there are cornerstone habits that you can develop in order to keep your skin looking as healthy and vibrant as possible.
As much as we'd like to fight the aging of our skin forever, sometimes we simply have to shift our skincare routine so that it suits the current needs our skin is crying for. Read this blog if you want to know what five essential switches you need to make as your skin matures.
According to Dr. Mona Vand, a health and beauty expert, the number one cause of skin damage is the sun. In fact, 80%-90% of aging is from sun damage.
That's why her most recommended tip in preventing skin from aging quickly is to apply sunscreen. She recommends to also make sure to apply sunscreen to the neck, chest, and under the eyes, which are all easily forgotten areas.
As we age, our collagen levels decrease, causing our skin to become thinner, more fragile, and less elastic, which is why we develop more fine lines and wrinkles over time.
For this issue Dr. Vand recommends applying a topical cream that contains Vitamin C in order to boost collagen levels. She says that Vitamin A topical treatments also work well for naturally boosting your skin's collagen.
The final anti-aging tip is food!
But not just any food — Dr. Vand recommends foods that boost collagen, including broccoli, aloe vera, chlorella, and spirulina. She also stresses the importance of consuming antioxidants, both eating them and putting them on your skin. Here are some other food sources she recommends:
- Green tea, which is a great source of antioxidants that can help protect you from sun damage (did you know that our Hydrating Face Wash contains green tea?)
- Organic berries and açai (they go great in smoothies or your morning yogurt!)
- Grapes, which contain resveratrol, a powerful antioxidant
Of course, there are many more tips than just the ones mentioned above, but as long as you've got these ones under your belt you've got a good chance of maintaining healthy, youthful skin well into your golden years!
